WELCOME
In dreams there it lies, past the magic mirror and will'o'wisp's light. Beyond words that have faded to legend and myth stands a world long forgotten. Altear that land is called, the otherworld. In that fabled land the children of the old gods live and breath. It is their Kingdom, the land of Fairie that the Old Ways of antiquity live, and where a fractured peace could lead to war or to a new age.
The last High King of the Fairies has died and no heir can be found. Which means a new leader must be elected, and a new Royal family assembled. Because without a true monarch to lead the country, ancient Clann Feuds and courtly politics threaten to bring down the ancient Kingdom of Fairie.

Blair continued to smile as she listened to the banter between the pair-say what they may, they were quite good for entertainment, though she did pity the laoch, a bit, in over his head as he was. The ale helped deal with those niggling feelings, of course, lifting them up and away on a pleasant wave of…well, pleasant feelings. She grinned, a bit crookedly, at Aithne, winking as she settled back in her seat. “Of course. One must know a good deal-and notice more-if one wants to keep up with things, don’t you think?” She leaned, easily, on the table, pleased with how the evening was headed, now. “Oh, I’m fine, believe me. I guess my balance decided I needed a little perspective.” Blair winks, a little bawdily, at this, and laughs.
“Because a good king can hide when he’s annoyed, if he needs to.” The smuggler’s lips twitched up, at the corners, as she regarded the laoch. “And knows when to cut his losses, as well…Or so I think, at least. I could quite easily be wrong.” She tilts her head to the side, playing with her stein, and smiles as he continues to speak. “Who keeps consequences in mind at a time like this?” Her smile stretches, slightly, a bit knowingly, as she continues. “There’s not enough time to think of repercussions at all times, one really must stop and think of oneself, once in awhile. Don’t you do the same?”
She blinks, then crows, laughing loud as Aithne turns over her card. “Indeed you are, indeed you are. I wonder if this is a sign of the times?” She smiles, pleasantly, at this, voice light and joking, and pulls another card, dropping it on the table-a jack, this time. “And I suppose the game ends when we decide it ends, and you, dear boy, are showing the effects of ale a good deal more than I.” She laughs, easily, at this, and flashes her palms, fingers spread. “Especially considering I was already getting into my cups before the two of you, mh?” Gold eyes glitter with mirth as she eyes him, noting the faint look of fear.
“Oh dear. Do you truly dislike dancing that much, laoch?”
((whoo. Caught up on my homework and trying to power through some owed posts here and there. Sorry it's a touch short.))

Care to join me for a drink sometime?

Aithne was still chuckling lightly as Blair brushed off the concern from the man – while she wouldn’t been concerned herself if Blair had actually been hurt, the fact was they were all drinking very, very heavily and it was only a matter of time before someone began falling over. It likely wouldn’t be the little golden girl though, despite the fact that she would still be feeling it in the morning. Her gaze continued to return to poor, poor Lorcan though. He really had no idea how hard she could be, not only in the company of another who encouraged her teasing habits, but also in simply being watched. If she wanted to disappear, then she would. He’d find out eventually.
“A Very good point there, Blair,” Aithne grinned as the other woman gave her view on what made a good King, “And it seems that Mr Lorcan has already failed in that regard. Really, my dear man, you should learn to put a smile on that handsome face of yours. Less chance of scaring away one of the fine ladies in here tonight who might like a tumble between the sheets later.” She tilted her head at the waitress who came by to pick up a couple of empty plates and steins, “Like this sweet lass... excuse me Miss, you wouldn’t mind helping my Laoch here relieve a little... tension, would you.” The serving woman looked him over, while Aithne grinned, and the small smile and wink was a certain sign that she was considering it. Then Aithne continued to add on, “Of course, he apparently doesn’t like to ‘dance’ much.”
The waitress chuckled before she left and Aithne’s attention went back to the laoch and she shrugged, “Who knows why I do some of the things I do – but you are simply going to have to get used to it, since it seems you’ll be around for a while I assume.” She sighed softly and shrugged, “As you said, neither of us had a choice, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be who I am.”
Aithne laughed lightly and shook her head at the symbolism of how she’d managed to win the hand by drawing the higher King, but the look on Lorcan’s face when she mentioned dancing was rather delicious and when Blair pointed out the obvious question, she laughed again. “The question is, would one rather wait until they’re practically falling off their seat in order to stumble around, or whether they would like to keep at least a little dignity in their movements.” Shaking her head, the golden woman relaxed back and picked up her stein, taking a small sip from it as she glanced around them and she flipped over a Nine. Whatever the outcome, and despite the fact that she now had a guard, at least she was still sure that she would have a good time tonight.

“Of course. One must know a good deal-and notice more-if one wants to keep up with things, don’t you think?” She leaned, easily, on the table and he watched, his eyes dipping briefly to the exposed cleavage. “Oh, I’m fine, believe me. I guess my balance decided I needed a little perspective.” He laughed, eyes lifting to hers again, head tilted. "Or the world decided to give me a wonderful view." He winked.
“Because a good king can hide when he’s annoyed, if he needs to.” The smuggler’s lips twitched up, at the corners, as she regarded the laoch. “And knows when to cut his losses, as well…Or so I think, at least. I could quite easily be wrong.” His smile faded. "Hey! I can hide when I'm annoyed just not necessarily when I'm drunk."
“Who keeps consequences in mind at a time like this?” Her smile stretches, slightly, a bit knowingly, as she continues. “There’s not enough time to think of repercussions at all times, one really must stop and think of oneself, once in awhile. Don’t you do the same?”
"Oh yes," he growled slightly, "screw consequences." His eyes flicked between the two of them, a little bit of good humor regained in his voice. "I am thinking of myself right now, and I think you two should join me."
“And I suppose the game ends when we decide it ends, and you, dear boy, are showing the effects of ale a good deal more than I.” She laughs, easily, at this, and he frowned. “Especially considering I was already getting into my cups before the two of you, mh?” Oh no... he really hated dancing. He'd just always been forced into it and had always felt awkward in it. After the first few times of being laughed at he'd simply avoided it. And everytime he'd been forced into it after had just contributed to it. It had become a near phobia.
“And it seems that Mr Lorcan has already failed in that regard. Really, my dear man, you should learn to put a smile on that handsome face of yours. Less chance of scaring away one of the fine ladies in here tonight who might like a tumble between the sheets later.” He glanced at Aithne, and dared a smile that he didn't really feel. “Like this sweet lass... excuse me Miss, you wouldn’t mind helping my Laoch here relieve a little... tension, would you.” Lorcan flushed slightly, even though a grin curled at his lips. He didn't need her help but.. He looked up to see the girl's small smile and wink and he returned it. He couldn't help it. Maybe he'd stick around.. “Of course, he apparently doesn’t like to ‘dance’ much.”
Now THAT had him frowning. She'd got his hopes up and now with that comment it wasn't very likely. “Who knows why I do some of the things I do – but you are simply going to have to get used to it, since it seems you’ll be around for a while I assume.” That had his frown deepening further, and he growled yet again. "Or we could make some kind of truce to make both of out lives easier. Just a thought there."
“As you said, neither of us had a choice, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be who I am.” He opened his mouth to respond when the next comment popped out.
“Oh dear. Do you truly dislike dancing that much, laoch?”
His face paled, and he looked away from the two women. "Just because I was born a noble doesn't mean I like the fact that I am. I never felt.. like I belonged." It was the most he had said to anyone on that subject. Ever.
“The question is, would one rather wait until they’re practically falling off their seat in order to stumble around, or whether they would like to keep at least a little dignity in their movements.” That though was a good point, and he wasn't going to renege on a bet. Aithne flipped another card but he simply stood up. "Come on then. I'm bound to lose so lets get this over with." He offered his hand to both of them, waiting for the first volunteer and hoping they would hurry before he lost his nerve.
[sorry for the shitty post]

Blair watched the two for awhile, then glanced over at Lorcan, smirking slightly. “I always think of myself, even when I’m thinking of others.” She pauses, then picks at a bit of the food, nibbling idly and watching them again-this part of the conversation wasn’t one she could interact with, of course, it being none of her business, really…
“Dear boy, there is no reason to feel like you belong to that kind of a group, even if you’re born a part of it. If you ask me it’s much easier to simply disregard such bounds, though I must say that you do have the obligatory stick up your ass that far too many seem to, though I haven’t quite managed to guess if you’re simply playing a part or if you really don’t understand how to loosen up except with drink…” Her lips curled, and she giggled, gold eyes easy, though her words were surprisingly incendiary. “Though perhaps the drink is making you drop your mask?”
She leans back, eyeing his hand, and smirks. “I’ve never given much care to the lines of class, except where it affects my business, of course. You need to have an eye for who cares for that sort of thing and who doesn’t, after all…mmh. Does this mean you forfeit, then?” She giggles, quietly, as she speaks.
((Sorry for the short-ass post, but if I don’t throw it up now it may take another week and DAMNIT I said it’d be up, like…4 days ago. : < ))
